Norwegian violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing takes us on a musical journey through the Arctic in her latest album. In this conversation, she talks with WGTE's Mary Claire Murphy about her background, her Stradivarius violin, and her native landscape — including how it is reflected in the beautiful and varied works on this disc.
"Arctic" features new original music by film composers Jacob Shea (“The Blue Planet”) and Frode Fjellheim (“Frozen”) as well as new arrangements and melodies by Ola Gjeillo, James Newton Howard, Selim Palmgren, Einojuhani Rautavaara, Henning Sommerro, Ole Bull and Edvard Grieg. Eldbjørg recorded the album with the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra in Bodø, a Norwegian town within the Arctic Circle.
