WGTE Public Media to Premiere Brand New "Toledo Stories" Documentary

“Toledo Stories: In Pursuit of Justice” tells the story of Toledo’s Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE)

TOLEDO, OHIO – April 27, 2022 – Join WGTE Public Media as it presents Toledo Stories: In Pursuit of Justice, a documentary about Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE). ABLE is a nonprofit legal aid firm that has been assisting people living in poverty for over 50 years. It will premiere on WGTE HD on Thursday, April 27 at 8 p.m. Following the premiere on television, it will also be on our website www.wgte.org.
This heartfelt documentary spotlights the storied history of an organization committed to achieving equal access to justice on behalf of people and communities facing barriers of poverty, racism, and limited resources. For half a century, ABLE has litigated cases and advocated for policies on behalf of disenfranchised people and groups in the Toledo community who cannot afford legal representation in civil cases that range from education and housing to public benefits, immigration, civil rights, and domestic violence. The 50-year commemorative documentary honors the people, experiences, and stories that make ABLE a beacon of hope for those in need seeking justice in the legal system and beyond.
“This documentary showcases the impact ABLE has had on the Northwest Ohio community for over 50 years in our quest to help people living in poverty achieve justice,” said ABLE Executive Director Janet Hales. “With input from executive directors past and present and our attorneys, paralegals, administrative staff, and clients, In Pursuit of Justice tells the compelling story of the people and cases that have made a difference in our persistent pursuit of justice.”
Toledo Stories: In Pursuit of Justice is the 95th documentary of the Toledo Stories series. WGTE's series of remarkable television programs that celebrate and document the people, places and moments that built Northwest Ohio into the strong and vibrant region we live in.
