TOLEDO, OHIO – June 26, 2024 – Join WGTE Public Media as it presents Toledo Stories: Magic of the Old West End, a documentary that delves into the remarkable history of Toledo’s Old West End. It will premiere on WGTE HD on Thursday, June 27 at 8 p.m. Following the premiere on television, it will also be on our website www.wgte.org/owe.
“Magic of the Old West End” explores the remarkable history of the Old West End of Toledo, a historic neighborhood boasting some of the largest Victorian and Edwardian homes in the USA. With its rich history of social activism, this community is packed with personality and understands that change happens best when there is power in numbers.
Production Manager Shane Potgieter states, “I hope that viewers get to experience the magic the same we felt producing it – this little neighborhood with massive personality is the ultimate underdog story.”
Producer Caleb Johnson states, “The Old West End is a place that deserves to be talked about, it needs to be talked about. Things that communities do together and for each other are the reason they seem set apart from other communities these days. They are doing things others aren’t and it shows. Through this documentary, we hope we do the Old West End Justice by recognizing the love, passion, perseverance, and hard work that makes the community so special.”
Toledo Stories: Magic of the Old West End is the 99th documentary of the Toledo Stories series.
