Women of Northwest Ohio Spotlights

Mary Ann Wells Wolcott (1800 - 1843)

Mary Wells was the youngest child of Captain William Wells and Sweet Breeze Wells, daughter of Little Turtle, leader of the Miami Indians. She then married James Wolcott and together they oversaw the construction of their home in Maumee, which is now known as the Wolcott House. The Wolcott House is the only known museum with a direct Native American Lineage.
